John began his medical malpractice insurance career 30 years ago. It began in 1995 as the Marketing Director in the medical professional liability division of Meadowbrook Insurance Group ( Southfield , MI ). Then, In 2002, John left Meadowbrook and started his own independent malpractice insurance agency. Then again, in 2004, John merged his independent insurance agency with Backus & Associates to become Backus Payne & Associates. John has been a partner in Backus Payne & Associates and has helped grow the agency over the next 22 years to become one of the leading specialized malpractice insurance agencies in Michigan.
Partner / Owner
David has been a Backus Payne Owner / Principal since 2006 and is currently a licensed Property & Casualty Insurance producer and licensed Insurance Counselor. Prior to 2006, David spent the previous 12 years in the finance industry, as a fully licensed financial planner and mortgage broker. His main goal, whether it being through helping individuals plan their financial futures or helping physicians financially protect themselves and their practices, has always been to make sure the process of planning is smooth and understood.

Cindy joined Backus Payne in 2010 as a Customer Service Representative. She has been in the medical-liability insurance business since 2005. Cindy comes to us with twenty-six years of experience in the insurance field.
